Merlin: 5.12

ceebeeOkay, so I knew it was going to be painful--I was all worked up for it to be painful, even with Vlahos' assurances that it would be epic and brilliant, and that fans would be pleased (not that I was concentrating overly on those parts of the video--I mean, Vlahos also said that the whole thing was essentially 'a love story' between Arthur and Merlin, so forgive me for being a tad distracted).
Anyway. I knew. But I don't think I was properly prepared for how that whole thing affected me, tbh. And it's probably a bit sad that it's STILL affecting me quite a bit, and when Merlin properly ends I probably just won't get over it, ever. It just keeps hitting me how Merlin, the character, is my favourite character--and I mean generally, out of everything I've ever watched and read, he's my favourite. And he's important. So's Arthur, and man I am scared about his fate in 5.13. Really, tear-inducing, limb-shaking scared.
I'm going to stop rambling now and just...here are the reactions I can remember having welp:
1. Shut up. Merlin is ACTUALLY in a tavern, EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING OMF MERLIN'S IN A TAVERN!!
2. I know this is going to be the only happy moment in the whole thing ffs, EYESEX
3. If Merlin loses his magic, I mean I know he will but if he loses it properly I will--
4. STAB A BITCH OMG MORGANA also that thing, what even WAS that thing? And then it jumped on Merlin's face, that's just adding insult to injury tbh eugh
5. I cried a little bit. When he was reaching reaching reeeeaaaching for that little bottle and his magic wasn't there. I mean. Who else had s1 flashbacks to when he told Gaius he was nothing without his magic? I teared up so much, it was awful.
6. "I guess I was wrong." I honestly think this is the most heartbreaking Merlin/Arthur moment ever. It was just SO unfair of Arthur, because fucking hell Merlin has never left your side unless YOU forced him to go (like in s4 when he was dying oh man) and he's not a knight and, as far as you know, he is defenseless. So fuck you Pendragon, even if he WAS hiding out in the woods somewhere, he's still the bravest man you've ever met, and you fucking know that so DON'T MAKE HIM FEEL BAD WHEN YOU MIGHT NOT EVER SEE HIM AGAIN OH GOD ARTHUR YOUR LIFE CHOICES MAKE ME WANT TO HIT THINGS. Although I don't blame you entirely, because I think you were caught in the moment, and Merlin's your one constant, and you'd pretty much say anything to make him stay. I get that, I really do. WOW THAT WAS AN ODE TO ARTHUR
7. Colin's acting skillz in that scene though, like what is his face, and the way his voice was so different when he said 'Arthur' and all I wanted was to bundle him up and say everything's gonna be okay even though it probably won't be ARGH
8. MERWAINE. MERWAINE. MERWAINE. MERWAIIIIINNNEEEEEE. And that bit where Merlin jusT shouts 'GWAINE!' when he was going to be attacked in it fucking broke me, because Merlin was terrified, and I was so fdjgskdfg oh God, Merlin.
9. JUST TELL GWAINE ABOUT YOUR MAGIC OMG TELL HIM
10. Ugh.
11. Merlin you are the bravest man I know(?? have heard of? Encountered? Acknowledged as a fucking heartbreaker?). He's so brave omfg, he's going against MORGANA and he doesn't even has magic, he has a sword that he knows will be useless oh GOD
12. NOPE. CAN'T DEAL WITH MERLIN SCREAMING NOPE NOPE
13. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Daddy's home ;) also LOL LOOK AT WHAT SOMEONE MADE HERE
14. And if conjuring a fucking butterfly out of thin air when he's surrounded by dirt and darkness isn't the very essence of Merlin then IDK what is.
15. Arthur. Doesn't. Even. Hesitate. Not even to be like 'hang on let's think here, was that real or just a dream?' HE JUST GOT UP OUT OF BED AND WENT BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MUCH HE TRUSTS MERLIN OH LORD. AND WE FINALLY HAVE PROOF THAT HE REALLY DOES TAKE INTO ACCOUNT EVERYTHING MERLIN TELLS HIM EVEN IF IT SEEMS LIKE HE DOESN'T. Also, it makes the "I guess I was wrong better" because the speed he moves at kinda shows that he never really thought Merlin would leave him :3
16. Morgana and Mordred should be in a band
17. Fiery Aithusa is fiery
18. Okay my memory's starting to go fuzzy but OH YEAH DRAGOON
19. Ugh I don't like Dragoon that much
20. But w/e
21. 'I am a sorcerer'. Fucking. Dead.
